Meet The Third Reich is a two-disc bootleg CD-R compilation containing unreleased material by The Residents, consisting entirely of outtakes and unfinished mixes from the Meet The Residents and Third Reich 'n Roll sessions, recorded between 1973 and 1975. It is notable for containing instrumentals of many tracks from Meet The Residents, as well as the otherwise unheard mixes of The Third Reich 'n Roll cover tracks, featuring the original versions of the songs remaining in the mix.
A single CD-R compilation titled Meet The Residents Studio Outtakes (featuring the Meet The Residents tracks with additional tracks from the group's soundtrack to the TV series Pee-wee's Playhouse) began circulating in 2015. A selection of (mostly) the Third Reich 'n Roll tracks have also circulated on the internet under the title Third Reich Sessions; this version of the bootleg appears to be derived from the earlier CD-R compilation. Another version of the Third Reich Sessions has circulated with shorter edits of "Nothin' Yet" and "Boots".
Around 2019, Cherry Red Records product manager Richard Anderson discussed Meet The Third Reich with The Residents, who were "of the opinion" that much of the material had been faked and was not actually the group's work, noting "huge variations in record quality, etc.";[1] however the bootlegs do contain previously unheard material (such as the outtake "Inka Don't Dry") which would later be released officially on the 2018 pREServed edition of Meet The Residents.
