Fingertips

From RZWiki

"Fingertips" is the thirty-sixth track on The Residents' Commercial Album, released by Ralph Records in October 1980. Like all other songs on the album, it is exactly one minute long. It features uncredited vocals by Hardy Fox.

Music videos

An animated video for the song was created by The Residents in 2004 for the Commercial DVD, before they decided to make it a collaborative project. A second video was then created by French filmmaker Stéphane Ricard (who also directed videos for "Easter Woman" and "End of Home", and is specially thanked on the DVD's credits).

In the summer of 2021, Homer Flynn and John Sanborn collaborated on a handful of homemade TikTok shorts incorporating the Commercial DVD videos through the use of an iPhone. This is one of the songs selected for that endeavor. The group's TikTok account has since been deleted, but the shorts have been archived on YouTube.

Lyrics

Something faintly emanating perfume and decay
whispered lightly in the wind that she had got away.
Longing for the touch of something soft upon my face,
I thought about her fingertips and not her lack of grace.[1]
