History
One of the first recorded appearances of Philip "Snakefinger" Lithman on guitar with The Residents, "We Stole This Riff" is the opening track on the group's 1971 demo tape B.S..
"We Stole This Riff" is an early example of The Residents repurposing the work of other artists for their own ends, a theme that would run through their entire career.
At the end of the track, there is a short snippet of a female voice (possibly Margaret Smyk) saying "-about... he doesn't give a shit..."
