Holelottadick

From RZWiki

"Holelottadick" is a short song by Residents, Uninc., featured as the second track on their long-unreleased 1971 demo B.S.. The song is a parody of Led Zeppelin's 1969 single "Whole Lotta Love"; it is the second musical parody on the album, following the preceding track "We Stole This Riff".

The song's first official release was on Record Store Day in April 2019, when B.S. was issued as a limited edition pREServed vinyl LP; later in the year it was included (along with the rest of B.S.) on the double CD compilation A Nickle If Your Dick's This Big.

History

"Holelottadick" is a phallus-obsessed parody of English rock band Led Zeppelin's single "Whole Lotta Love", from the 1969 album Led Zeppelin II. At least one member of The Residents is known to have been a fan of Led Zeppelin.

In the liner notes to the B.S. demo tape, composition for all songs (including "Holelottadick" and the preceding song, "We Stole This Riff", a Tim Buckley parody) is credited to the group's mentor, the Bavarian music theorist and composer N. Senada. Like many tracks on the demo, "Holelottadick" features an appearance from guitarist Philip "Snakefinger" Lithman.

The song is one of the earliest recorded examples of The Residents' fondness for penis jokes, which has often been noted by later collaborators and associates[1] - perhaps as a testament to this, the song would later receive its first wide release in 2019, on a compilation album named after an inside joke shared by the group, A Nickle If Your Dick's This Big.

Lyrics

English rock band Led Zeppelin, the inspiration for "Holelottadick"
Dick
I got a hole lotta dick
I got a hole lotta dick, dick, dick
Waitin' for you to lick
I got a hole lotta dick
I got a hole lotta dick
I got a hole lotta dick
Oh, dick, baby
Oh! OH! OHHHHHH!
