"Tourniquet of Roses" is a song by The Residents from their fourth studio album Fingerprince, released February 15th 1977 by Ralph Records.
History
The song was recorded in 1974, between the release of Meet The Residents in April and the first Third Reich N Roll sessions in October, and was copied onto the group's X Is For Xtra tape reel. While most of the songs from the tape became Not Available Tourniquet of Roses became the title track of their failed three sided album "Tourniquet of Roses". After some time in November 1976 The Residents and Snakefinger entered the studio to record what would become the final touches of Fingerprince. This included a new version of Tourniquet of Roses featuring Snakefinger on guitar.
The song would not be revisited until The Residents decided it would be perfect for their 13th anniversary show. The next time it was performed live was for the second, third, and fourth legs of their In Between Dreams tour.
Tourniquet of Roses was first remixed as part of the Secret Shows promotion. Anyone who subscribed to the email of the show would receive a free MP3 of the remix "No more" featuring a similar sound to the In Between Dreams live version. The song would be remixed again for Tourniquet of Roses RDX on Fingerprince pREServed.
