"Monstrous Intro" is a short instrumental by The Residents, which was released as the opening track of their EP Babyfingers in September 1979.
The track was not credited on the labels or cover art of early pressings of the EP, and was excluded altogether when the EP appeared on the Torso/East Side Digital CD reissue of Fingerprince in 1987. The track was first listed separately on the 1995 Euro Ralph CD reissue of Fingerprince (which includes Babyfingers on a separate mini-CD).
An alternate, longer take (titled "What?") was released on the compilation album Leftovers Again?! in 2021, alongside an apparently related, previously unreleased instrumental titled "The Idiot Bastard Son of 'What?'".
