"A Song About You" is the first track from Hardy Fox (aka Heart), the first solo album by composer Hardy Fox under his birth name, released February 14th 2018 by Klanggalerie. The album, in Fox's words, is a "personal and revealing" conceptual song cycle which explores Fox's "youthful darker sexuality" and his "adventures" in love.[1][2]

The song's lyrics were released to the public in the second issue of Fox's short-lived mailing list newsletter "up", one week prior to the release of the album.[3] They were then published, alongside the rest of the album's lyrics, on Fox's official website for the album.

Lyrics

The graphic accompanying the song, from Hardy Fox's official website for the album
I like to watch as these walls start to burn.
Take my hand
And ask that hand to turn
Your Jesus into God
I hold your fingers to the flame.
You'll see your name
Written in flashing lights.
I'll make your heart stop,
For a moment,
Then I breathe life back into you.
You are someone worth lying for.
I'm standing on the edge, trying not to fall,
But I wake with my head on your chest.
I try to talk and instead,
I sing a song about you.
And I've lost the melody.
And I feel like I'm screaming
Every word that I know that implies love,
But I'm too scared to say that word.[3]
