"Whatever Happened to Vileness Fats?" is an instrumental by The Residents, and the main theme to their 1984 video featurette Whatever Happened To Vileness Fats?, a short edited version of their unfinished 1972-1976 feature film Vileness Fats with a newly created soundtrack. The theme was also featured on the video's soundtrack album, released in September 1984 on Ralph Records.

The theme song has since occasionally re-appeared throughout The Residents' oeuvre in the years since the video's release, often accompanying references to Vileness Fats or its footage. The original version and a re-recording appear on the 2001 retrospective DVD Icky Flix, and the re-recording appears on its soundtrack album; the song was also featured in The Residents' 2022 film Triple Trouble and is one of two pieces of Residents back catalogue material featured on that film's soundtrack.

In 1994 artist "Scorn" sampled this song in their track Automata.[1]

A version of the theme by Dren MacDonald and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music was performed live at The Residents' 50th Anniversary secret show on January 14th 2023; this version is featured on the resulting live album, Secret Show Live in San Francisco.
