This recording was not intended for release. THEY HATE IT!!!

"Residents Records" (also referred to as "Residents Novelty Hits") is a private mixtape compiled in mid-to-late 1973 by Hardy Fox from The Residents' collection of novelty records, as a gift for friend Bill Reinhardt.

The existence and track listing of the reel were revealed by Reinhardt on the unofficial Residents Facebook group in May 2019. Shortly thereafter, a YouTube video playlist was created by a fan in an incomplete approximation of the tape's contents.

History

The reel, labelled "Residents Records" on the spine of the tape box, and featuring an early Ralph Records "King Kong" Vileness Fats promotional image on the front, was compiled by Hardy Fox some time shortly after July 1973.

It was sent to Portland, Oregon radio station KBOO-FM as a gift for program director and disc jockey Bill Reinhardt, who had recently visited and befriended the group (then known as Residents, Uninc.) after they sent a copy of their Santa Dog EP to the station.

The reel consists of selections from The Residents' collection of (sometimes rare) novelty recordings, which were kept in a jukebox in their Sycamore Street studio.
