Jack's Lament
"Jack's Lament" is a song recorded by The Residents circa 2003–2004 during sessions for Animal Lover. It originated from the abandoned Civil War project from 2001, and was musically based on the traditional folk song "Lost Jimmie Whalen". It features guitar work by Nolan Cook and wordless vocals by Carla Fabrizio.
The song was left off the album, but a vocal version of it is featured on the "Imaginary Jack" suite released as a companion disc to Animal Lover. It later surfaced in instrumental form on the first volume of the Best Left Unspoken trilogy, and later on the Animal Lover Instrumental album.
