Hit The Road Jack (Special Almost Dance Mix)
Hit The Road Jack (Special Almost Dance Mix) is a 12" remix EP by The Residents, released in June 1987 by Ralph Records.
The EP features an "almost dance mix" of their recent single, a cover of Percy Mayfield's "Hit The Road Jack" (popularly performed by Ray Charles), as well as four tracks from their 1985 Japanese tour, only one of which, "Cry for the Fire", had been released (on the album The 13th Anniversary Show - Live in Japan).
History
Hit The Road Jack (Special Almost Dance Mix) features a remix of the group's single "Hit The Road Jack", which was also released in June 1987. The EP was released by Ralph Records on both black and clear 12" vinyl.
The EP's B-side features a suite of tracks recorded on their Japanese "Eyeball Show" tour in 1985, "Jambalaya", "Firefly" / "The Big Bubble", and "Cry for the Fire"; only "Cry for the Fire" had been released, on the album The 13th Anniversary Show - Live in Japan.
