The Fat Boy Tape is an instrumental demo tape recorded and compiled by The Residents between the releases of Our Finest Flowers and Gingerbread Man.
Background
Recorded sometime between 1993 - 1994, the tape later proved itself as the genesis for The Residents' 20th & 21st studio albums, Gingerbread Man (1994), Hunters (1995) and their 30th studio album, Night of the Hunters (2006).
The tape is made up of short unfinished midi compositions which later formed small parts of the aforementioned albums.
Release
The existence of the tape was announced in February of 2021,[1] and was released as part of the Gingerbread Man 3xCD pREServed edition on May 28th of that same year.
